Mission Fed Nonprofit Partners

Banking/Personal Finance, Community, Financial Literacy, General Information

woman holding clipboard Mission Federal Credit Union takes pride in giving back to the San Diego community, which is why we partner with local schools and nonprofits to support financial education for individuals, families and youth. Among our partnerships are the Urban Corps of San Diego, Mission Fed JA Finance Park and with schools throughout San Diego County school districts. The work Mission Fed does with these partners is extremely rewarding, and we’re proud to be a part of the philanthropic community who helps make a positive impact throughout the county. Let us tell you more about our work with these fantastic partners, and how you can join us to get involved in your community, too.

Mission Fed is excited to be a sponsor for Urban Corps of San Diego, which provides opportunities for a brighter future for young adults between the ages of 18 and 26 in the San Diego area. Urban Corps offers paid job training and support services to Corps members, while allowing members the opportunity to earn a high school diploma at the same time. Corps members provide community service to the San Diego community as they receive on-the-job skill training by taking part in a variety of professional services, such as construction, design-build landscaping, recycling, environmental work and more. Mission Fed is proud to sponsor a program that supports local youth while also providing valuable services to better the community.

Financial education is essential to Mission Fed’s purpose, and Mission Fed JA Finance Park helps prepare local youth for a strong future. A unique experiential learning center, Mission Fed JA Finance Park is the only high school program of its kind in the San Diego area. This program helps students plan for life after high school, including higher education, budgeting and career planning. Students practice budgeting and living within their means using real life scenarios, including San Diego area jobs and salaries. Adults and families can also participate in the programs to expand their financial literacy. Members of Junior Achievement speak highly of the knowledge and confidence gained throughout the program, and we couldn’t have been more thrilled to join in Junior Achievement’s efforts to help the next generation learn about responsibly budgeting for their future.

We’ve also partnered with Girl Scouts San Diego to support their financial literacy program. When girls participate in the Girl Scout Cookie Program, they develop important life skills like goal setting, decision making, money management and business ethics, which can help set them up for short- and long-term successes.

Because Mission Fed began as a credit union for the educational community, we have maintained a strong connection to our local schools. We’ve partnered with many schools to provide our Mission 2 $AVE program—an award-winning program that helps improve students’ financial literacy, including learning how to save and manage money. In addition, we invest in local schools with our Mission for Our Schools program, which donates $25 to a participating local school of your choice when you open a new Checking Account and mention the program. We even reward you with $25 for participating in the program, too!

As you can see, the San Diego community is important to us here at Mission Fed. We value our philanthropic partnerships, and love to see San Diego community service continue to benefit all of us. Get involved in your community by joining Mission Fed today. Stop by and learn about all the ways we give back to make our community as great as it can be!
