SAN DIEGO – Feb. 6, 2025 – Helping local nonprofit organizations secure financial resources to expand their impact, Mission Fed Credit Union is awarding $500,000 to local organizations driving meaningful change through its “Community is Everything” fund.

As the largest member-owned, not-for-profit, full-service financial institution exclusively serving San Diego County, Mission Fed’s “Community is Everything” fund reflects the credit union’s unwavering dedication to fostering financial empowerment and community well-being. By providing financial resources to local nonprofits, the fund ensures vital programs in education, healthcare, the arts, social services and more can thrive and expand their reach.

“Community is Everything isn’t just a catchphrase for us – it’s truly the foundation for who we are as an organization and how we want to operate as a business,” said Doug Wright, president and chief executive officer of Mission Fed. “We are honored to partner with organizations that are making a tangible difference in the lives of San Diegans, and we’re committed to ensuring they have the resources they need to succeed.”

Initially launched in December 2024, the fund has awarded $225,000 to nine nonprofit organizations serving diverse needs across San Diego County, including programs focused on youth development, financial literacy, healthcare and senior support services. Building on this commitment, applications are now open for nonprofit organizations to request funding from the “Community is Everything” fund with grants ranging up to $25,000 per organization. Applications are open now through March 31, 2025 and should be submitted via this link: Mission Fed’s “Community is Everything” Fund – Grant Application

“Across San Diego, nonprofit organizations work endlessly to support the communities they serve, yet many face challenges in securing the resources necessary to expand their impact,” said Courtney Pendleton, public relations and community manager of Mission Fed. “By working together, we can create even more opportunities for growth, financial empowerment and lasting change throughout San Diego.”

2024 recipients of the “Community is Everything” fund include the Emilio Nares Foundation, Junior Achievement of San Diego County, MAAC Project, Meals on Wheels San Diego County, Promises2Kids, San Diego Center for Children, The Jacobs & Cushman San Diego Food Bank, San Ysidro Health and The Chicano Federation.

Eligible nonprofit organizations interested in receiving 2025 funding must serve the San Diego region and demonstrate how the funding may help address community needs or inequities.
