Mission Fed Credit Union Honors Longtime Board Member, Richard Pepper
Pepper ends his tenure with 42 years of service to the leading credit union

SAN DIEGO, Oct. 25, 2021 – Mission Fed Credit Union, the largest member-owned, not-for-profit, full-service financial institution exclusively serving San Diego County, has announced that longtime Board of Directors member, Richard Pepper, has officially retired from his service to the credit union.
Pepper joined the Mission Fed board in 1979 and has served as Chairman of the Board several times during his tenure. He also volunteered as Chair for Mission Fed’s Credit Union Service Organization (CUSO).
“Richard is one of our organization’s longest-tenured board members, always fully engaged and dedicated to our mission,” said Debra Schwartz, President and CEO at Mission Fed. “He was a constant advocate for our members, our employees and for simply doing the right things. Plus, he was one heck of a dancer! We will miss Richard’s dedication and service, and wish him well in his next iteration of retirement.”
Pepper served for 14 years as the Assistant Superintendent of Business Services for Escondido Union High School District, where he was also the first recipient of the Outstanding Employees of the Year award. He also dedicated his time to state and local education committees, including serving as President of the local chapter of the California Association of School Business Officials.
Prior to his work with Mission Fed, Pepper served in the U.S. Air Force from 1951-1972, traveling throughout the world in hospital administration. A decorated leader, he received two Air Force Commendation medals.
In his own words, Pepper said, “Mission Fed exists to serve our membership – and because it is a not-for-profit, the success of the membership directly relates to the success of the organization as a whole. I never lost sight of that, and truly appreciate being part of the Mission Fed family for 42 years.”
Pepper’s hobbies include golf, traveling, learning foreign languages, auto repair and home remodeling. Mr. Pepper has a BA in Business Administration from National University.
